FIFA has made Juventus coach Antonio Conte's 10-month suspension a worldwide ban, barring him from coaching at his side's UEFA Champions League game at Chelsea.

Conte was initially suspended in his native Italy for match-fixing violations but FIFA announced in a statement on Friday the ban "covers all types of matches, including domestic, international, friendly and official fixtures".

The world governing body said the sanction could be changed if Conte wins an appeal, "such as the one currently pending at the National Arbitration Tribunal for Sport in Italy", which will be heard next Friday.

Conte was suspended by the Italian authorities after being accused of failing to disclose knowledge of match-fixing by an opponent during his time at then-Serie B side Siena in the 2010-11 season.

He later guided unbeaten Juventus to the Serie A title this year in his first season as coach.

Two-time European champions Juve get their Champions League group stage underway at Chelsea on Wednesday in a pool that also includes Shakhtar Donetsk and Nordsjaelland, with technical director Massimo Carrera expected to carry on in temporary charge for the clash.

FIFA said it was preparing to extend suspensions worldwide to other players and officials implicated in the ongoing Italian match-fixing investigation.

The statement continued: "FIFA is currently reviewing additional documentation provided by the (Italian federation) in relation to other sanctions."
