Ivorian could face Latics in Carling Cup

Arsenal have been boosted by the speedy return of Ivorian star Emmanuel Eboue from a knee injury. The Ivorian was expected to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being stretchered off in last week's UEFA Champions League defeat to Braga. However, scans have shown no serious damage to Eboue's knee and he could even be available for Tuesday's Carling Cup quarter-final against Wigan. "When we made a scan his knee was swollen, but the ligament was intact so we decided to push him back as quickly as possible and the tests were successful," said Gunners boss Arsene Wenger. Wenger is set to make changes to his side to take on Wigan, but he insists he is taking the cup tie seriously. "The only thing I promise is that we will take the tie seriously," added Wenger. "But I have to consider how many games my players play. "For six weeks we have played every three days with Champions League and internationals. "I will consider who needs to play and who needs to rest."
