Serie A outfit Fiorentina have admitted to holding an interest in Benfica defender Luisao.
The Brazilian has been strongly linked with an exit from Estadio da Luz this summer, with a number of clubs reported to be keen on acquiring his services.
Having been with Benfica since 2003, Luisao has also admitted that he could be tempted to take on a new challenge ahead of the 2009/10 campaign.
A potential switch to Italy could be in the pipeline, with Fiorentina's sporting director Pantaleo Corvino revealing that the Viola are keen to strike a deal, providing the terms are right.
"Luisao interests us, but in order to sign him we have to reach an agreement with Benfica and both parties will have to give in," Corvino told
Record.
"We will defend our conditions."

Fiorentina are expected to test the water with an imminent €8million (£6.9m) approach, but Corvino has made it clear that the Italians will not be held to ransom in order to secure the Samba star.
"We have not made an offer yet, but it should happen soon," he added.
"It will not reach the €10million (£8.6m) mark, but that is a figure that will be the top of our aspirations to sign Luisao. However, we want to negotiate with Benfica.
"Let's wait for the market to unfold. This is a deal that does not have to be done now.
"Our intention is to get the player, but we will not do anything crazy."
