Shrewsbury relishing Chelsea tie

Image: Micky Mellon: Cup won't distract from league goals

Shrewsbury chief executive Matt Williams insists Town can take inspiration from Bradford after landing a dream tie with Chelsea.

But he is adamant the Capital One Cup clash must not distract them from their promotion goal in League Two. Micky Mellon's men are the lowest ranked club left in the fourth round having shocked Blackpool and Leicester before beating Norwich 1-0 on Tuesday. Chelsea come to Greenhous Meadow in the last 16 next month for a David v Goliath clash. Bradford lost in the final to Swansea as a fourth-tier club in 2013, beating Arsenal and Aston Villa on the way, and Williams insists Shrewsbury must believe they can win. He said: "Look at Bradford, they beat Arsenal so anything is possible. It's 22 men on a field but the main thing is the club has to enjoy it. "Everyone from the chairman down has to enjoy it and make sure it's memorable for the right reasons. "It's the biggest game since we moved to the new stadium (in 2007). This is a Premier League club, probably the favourites for the Premier League and they have aspirations of winning every competition they are in. "Chelsea ooze class and it's probably the toughest draw we could have." Town, unbeaten at home this season, are sixth in League Two and go to Southend on Saturday and Plymouth next week. They have six games before Jose Mourinho's side come to Shropshire and Williams does not want to lose focus as they chase promotion. "It's important for us to focus on the bread and butter before then. We don't want people getting carried away," he said. "We may not get the opportunity again, especially if we don't perform, and as a club we have to make sure we get things right." The club will look into adding temporary seating in the corners of the stadium, which has a capacity of 9,875, and Williams promised they will not price fans out. He added: "We don't want to chase the money. It's important we get it right and all our loyal supporters can watch the game."
