Middlesbrough are lining up a loan move for Hamburg midfielder Mickael Tavares.
Boro boss Gordon Strachan is keen to bolster his midfield options after losing Gary O'Neil, Kevin Thomson and Willo Flood to injuries.
Strachan has made his move for Senegal international Tavares as he looks to bring him to the Riverside on loan until January with a view to season-long deal.
Tavares is well down the pecking order in Hamburg's first-team plans and they are thought to be open to the idea of letting him leave on a temporary basis.
Middlesbrough are hoping to tie up a deal for the 27-year-old to have him available for this weekend's clash with Barnsley.
