Excelsior will be looking for a new coach in the summer after the board of directors decided not to continue with John Lammers in charge.
The Dutch top-flight club are certain of dropping into the Eerste Divisie unless they can haul themselves off bottom and force their way into a relegation play-off.
Lammers is currently in his first season as head coach after spending two season as assistant-coach to Alex Pastoor.
It's unknown how Excelsior will fill in the place but the replacement is expected to be someone with a Feyenoord connection given that they are a feeder club to the Dutch giants.
Several players including Salomon Kalou, Thomas Buffel and more recently Jordy Clasie made their first steps in professional football on a loan deal at Excelsior.
