Heerenveen maintained their free-scoring form by thrashing De Graafschap, while NAC Breda were held by Vitesse Arnhem.
Struggling Excelsior hit back from two goals down to snatch a last-gasp 2-2 draw at home to high-flying Groningen.
The visitors appeared to be on course for the points after Dusan Tadic's seventh minute opener was followed up by an own goal from Excelsior keeper Cees Paauwe on 29 minutes.
However, Excelsior got back into the contest five minutes after half-time through Ryan Koolwijk's penalty and Daan Borenberg scored an 89th minute equaliser.
ADO Den Haag had a pair of own goals to thank for securing a 2-1 success at home to bottom club Willem II.
Niek Vosseblet's own goal gave Den Haag the lead on 10 minutes and Veli Lampi then put through his own net on 52 minutes, just 60 seconds after Willem II had equalised through Bart Biemans.
Heerenveen fired six goals past champions FC Twente last weekend and were on form again on Saturday to beat De Graafschap 4-0 at home.
Viktor Elm scored on 11 minutes, Filip Djuricic made it 2-0 on 33 minutes before Luciano Narsingh netted either side of half-time.
NAC Breda slipped down the table after holding on with 10 men for a 1-1 draw at home to lowly Vitesse.
Julian Jenner put Vitesse ahead on the half-hour before Nemanja Gudelj equalised on 58 minutes for NAC, who had Tim Gilissen sent off eight minutes from time.
