Teenage striker may be heading for Holland

Eredivisie outfit FC Utrecht are hoping to take Ben Sahar to Holland in the New Year. The Israel international was in the stands to see his potential new employers win 2-1 away at NEC Nijmegen on Sunday. The 19-year-old striker is currently on loan at Portsmouth from Chelsea but has struggled to make an impact at Fratton Park and his agreement is unlikely to be extended in January. With that in mind, Utrecht are expected to send a delegation to England to watch the youngster in action for Pompey's reserves and to try and thrash out a deal with Chelsea. The Dutch club are also keen on Liverpool's Jordy Brouwer, with technical director Piet Buter admitting a short list of targets has been drawn up.

Possibilities

"He (Sahar) is a player who fits into the category we are looking for - a young striker to play behind Morten Skoubo," he told Algemeen Dagblad. "Also on our list is Jordy Brouwer. "We know Sahar's history and have watched DVDs of him in action. He is an interesting player to us. "We will go and see him play again and if he makes a good impression, we will see what is possible."
