Willem II have been informed that Jos van Nieuwstadt could be out for upwards of six weeks with a leg injury.

The defender picked up a calf injury in the clash with Roda over a week ago and was initially told that the damage was only superficial.

Van Nieuwstadt took the advice of the club's medical team and continued to train, which aggravated the problem.

A more detailed assessment has revealed a tear to a calf muscle which is likely to require six weeks of inactivity.

"At the start the doctors said I had strained a muscle and suggested that I continued to train as this would help," he told Brabants Dagblad.

"However this has had an adverse effect and the doctors have now concluded that I have torn the muscle."
