Heracles Almelo have swooped to sign Finnish midfielder Mika Nurmela, but defender Ragnar Klavan has picked up an injury.
The 33-year-old Nurmela was lured back to the Eredivisie after ending his agreement with HJK Helsinki.
Nurmela, who has featured for Emmen and Heerenveen in the Eredivisie, claims he had little hesitation in signing a deal which runs until the end of the season.
"Heracles contacted me last week and on Tuesday I decided to join them," said Nurmela. "It all happened very quickly."
Heracles are flirting with danger at the foot of the table and will hope Nurmela can put his experience to good use and ease them up the Eredivisie.
The arrival of Nurmela will buoy a club that has lost defender Klavan for the next six weeks of the season.
Klavan (pictured) fractured a shoulder in training and has been ruled out for six weeks.
The news will come as a blow to coach Peter Bosz who has been impressed with the defender since his summer arrival from Valerenga.
