Leaders win again as AZ also pick up three points

FC Twente continued their relentless march towards the Eredivisie title with another victory as defending champions AZ Alkmaar also won. Steve McClaren's Twente side have lost just once in the league this season and claimed a 2-0 success at VVV Venlo on Saturday. Blaise Nkufo put Twente into a 38th minute lead and Bryan Ruiz netted two minutes from time to send the leaders seven points in front of nearest pursuers Ajax. AZ have failed to mount a serious defence of their title, but are trying to finish the season on a high following a 2-0 home triumph over Utrecht. Maarten Martens gave AZ a fifth minute lead and Mounir El Hamdaoui scored the second from the penalty spot 15 minutes from time after Utrecht's Jacob Lensky had been sent off. RKC Waalwijk look destined for the drop after the division's bottom club were thrashed 5-1 away by Roda JC Kerkrade. Charlison Benschop had given RKC a seventh minute lead, but Roda were ahead by the interval thanks to goals from Morten Skoubo and an own goal from Jurgen Colin. The second half proved to be the Mads Junker show as he scored a hat-trick for mid-table Roda, netting on 62, 69 and 81 minutes. Heerenveen overcame the handicap of playing most of the match with 10 men to run out convincing 4-1 winners at home to struggling Sparta Rotterdam. Losada gave Heerenveen a ninth minute lead only for the hosts to then have Michael Dinsdag sent off in the 18th minute. But, rather than wilt, Heerenveen went from strength to strength as Gerald Sibon's penalty and Roy Beerens' goal had the hosts 3-0 up at half-time. Erik Falkenburg pulled a goal back for Sparta on the hour mark, but Losada made it 4-1 with his second of the night on 77 minutes. Vitesse Arnhem scored three times in the closing quarter of the match to ease their relegation fears with a 3-0 home success over Groningen. Claudemir made the breakthrough on 67 minutes before Santi Kolk and Alexander Buttner made certain of the points.
