PSV Eindhoven are four points clear at the top of De Eredivisie after a 4-0 win over Excelsior.

The Dutch champions made easy work of the match at The Philips Stadion and the result was barely in doubt once Arouna Kone had put them ahead after 29 minutes.

Alex (43) made it 2-0 before the break, after which Jefferson Farfan (pictured, 79) and Carlos Salcido (85) put the finishing touches on the victory.

Third placed AZ Alkmaar missed the chance to move above Ajax - who did not play - and into second after they lost 3-2 at Feyenoord.

A real tightly fought contest at De Kuip saw the home side claim the lead three times and they finally managed to hang on to their advantage the third time.

Nicky Hofs (29) put Feyenoord ahead but Demy De Zeeuw (32) levelled, before the home side again went ahead through Timoth Derijck (57).

Danny Koevermans looked to have handed AZ a point with his goal 16 minutes from time but Hofs had the last word as his second (81) gave Feyenoord the win.

First half goals from Lasse Nilsson (13) and Afonso Alves (20) gave Heerenveen a 2-0 away win at RKC Waalwijk.

Sparta Rotterdam moved up to 16th after a 2-1 win at NEC Nijmegen.

Jeffrey Vling (34) and Yuri Rose (57) put Sparta on their way to victory. Romano Denneboom (77) pulled one back for NEC - but they could not find a leveller and had Jonas Olsson sent off late on.
