Youngster expected to return to PSV in October

Jonathan Reis is making good progress in his recovery from a serious knee injury, according to PSV Eindhoven coach Fred Rutten. Young striker Reis has been sidelined since last December after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament and medial ligament in his knee. After undergoing surgery the 22-year-old, who is no longer contracted in Eindhoven, has been recovering in his native Brazil. He is expected to return to the Netherlands in October to be assessed by PSV. Coach Rutten has been in contact with the youngster and says he is making strides in his recovery. He told Voetbal Primeur: "Jonathan has informed me that he is doing well. Let's hope that is true. We'll have to wait and see. "I very much welcome this development." Reis' PSV contract expired while he was sidelined and Rutten admits it is up to the club's bosses to decide if he will be given a new deal. He added: "That decision goes to the management."
