Theo Janssen has expressed delight at signing a new deal with Vitesse Arnhem.
The midfielder is keen to make a step up in his career at some point in the future, but is prepared to remain at Vitesse for the time being having opted to extend his stay at the club until the summer of 2009.
"Although I have stated that I would like to make a move upwards, I currently have got a good feeling at Vitesse," he told the club's website. "The club are on their way up.
"My expectation is that I can grow with the club on a short term. Where my limit is then, at Vitesse or somewhere else, I will see when we have got so far."
Janssen's decision to extend his stay with Vitesse has met favour with the club's paymasters.
"The last weeks we have had some disappointments with players that we cannot keep for the future. Theo has realised where the possibilities and impossibilities of Vitesse are," said Vitesse director Paul van der Kraan.
