Utrecht have handed trials to Pablo Caserec and Lorenzo Wouters, but have been unable to persuaded Adil Ramzi to stay on.
Coach Foeke Booy had been advised to take a look at the pair and gave Uruguayan defender Caserec and winger Wouters a run out in a recent friendly.
It is believed that the pair will be invited back for pre-season training in order to press their claims for contracts.
Ramzi (pictured), meanwhile, has returned to AZ Alkmaar after indicating he did not want to turn his loan spell into a permanent arrangement.
"Adil has made a good contribution this season," Booy told Utrecht's website. "His attacking impulses have certainly strengthened our team.
"He is very ambitious and wants to play at the top international level.
"On the one side it's a pity that he leaves us now. On the other side we have to be reasonable, if you know that his ambition lies elsewhere."
AZ are rumoured to be closing in on the capture of Simon Cziommer.
The Schalke midfielder has been on loan at Roda JC, but they have not been able to keep him and reports suggest he will soon sign a long-term deal with AZ.
