Knol making progress

Ruud Knol appears to have finally overcome his injury troubles after returning to the Vitesse Arnhem squad for the first time in 16 months.

The promising defender has been plagued by a knee injury for almost two seasons but has been making good progress recently.

Knol was an unused substitute against Feyenoord in the Amstel Cup in midweek and is hopeful it will be a stepping stone for the remainder of the season.

"This is nice but I am just one of the 18," Knol told RTV Gelderland after the game.

"It is just the beginning."

Knol will hope to stay injury free and get his career back on track, as he was seen as one of Holland's brightest defensive talents before being struck down by injury.
