THEO JANSSEN has been dropped from Vitesse Arnhem`s first-team, with rumours suggesting that a wild night out has cost him his place in the squad.

The 20-year-old looked as if he had dropped his rebel image this season to become an integral member of the squad, but he has been relegated to the reserves for the foreseeable future.

The club have yet to reveal the reason behind his demotion, but rumours in the Dutch media are suggesting that a night out did not go down well with the Vitesse hierarchy.

The 20-year-old left sided midfielder, who was appointed vice-captain earlier in the season by coach Ronald Koeman, has performed superbly this term and even made it into the Dutch national squad.

The demotion may not have too big an impact on the playing career of Janssen, though, as he is set for a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury after damaging ligaments during the weekend clash with Twente.
