Hristov determined to return

GEORGI HRISTOV is determined to overcome his latest injury setback and make a return to action for NEC Nijmegen before the end of the season.

The former Barnsley man, who underwent surgery on his injured knee last November, has been forced to go under the knife again to rectify ligament damage in the same joint.

The 25-year-old Macedonian admitted this is the most frustrating point in his career, but is determined to prove the critics wrong and make a return to action.

"This is the most frustrating point in my career," said Hristov. "My recovery didn't go smoothly and my right knee has ended up swollen.

"I am confident I will overcome this, though, because I intend to play for at least another five or six years.

"The doctors said that I'll be back on the pitch in two months, but only if another artificial ligament is not necessary.

"I didn't notice when I tore the artificial ligament. My knee will be opened up again in two months and if another artificial ligament is necessary, I'll miss the rest of the season."
