There was mixed news on the contract front at NEC Nijmegen over the weekend, as Peter Wisgerhof signed a new deal but Jeffrey Leiwakabessy opted to inform the club he would be leaving on a Bosman in the summer.
Club skipper Wisgerhof (pictured) has been handed a bumper new deal and is now tied to NEC until the summer of 2009.
Wisgerhof arrived at NEC in the summer of 2000 from Vitesse Arnhem and has proved to be a pivotal figure in the last six years.
A similar comment applies to Leiwakabessy, who has risen through the ranks at NEC, but his spell at the club is drawing to a close.
The 24-year-old feels it is time for a new challenge and is looking to make a jump in grade in the summer.
NEC's Eredivisie rivals NAC Breda have been credited with an interest in Leiwakabessy.
