ROB PENDERS has been promoted to the role of captain at NAC Breda following the departure of Alfred Schreuder.

The previous occupant of the role Schreuder has quit NAC to sign for Feyenoord and his place has been taken by Penders.

The 27-year-old had been Schreuder's vice-captain and his promotion to the main role is a natural progression.

Penders will have Hungarian goalkeeper Gabor Babos as his right hand man with NAC confident the defender will be a success in the job.

Ton Lokhoff told the club's official website: "Rob may not be much of a talker but what he says is listened to."
