NAC BREDA captain Alfred Schreuder has rejected the overtures of Austria Vienna to stay in De Eredivisie.

The Austrian side had agreed a deal with NAC to sign the experienced midfielder and Schreuder was due for talks in Vienna on Wednesday.

But the 30-year-old has decided to pull the plug on the transfer to prolong his six-year association with NAC.

Schreuder cited family reasons for his decision to snub Vienna and is looking forward to Uefa Cup football with NAC in the coming months.

"I chose for my family," Schreuder told the club's official website.

"They would rather not go to Vienna but preferred to stay in Holland.

"I have taken the right decision. I play at a beautiful club that will also play European football."
