AZ Alkmaar have completed the signing of defender Jan Wuytens on a free transfer from Eredivisie rivals FC Utrecht.
Wuytens had decided to leave Utrecht in search of a fresh challenge and had attracted interest from FC Twente and Club Brugge.
However, the 27-year-old plumped for a deal with AZ and he is looking forward to a new start in Alkmaar.
"It's very important for me that a coach and a club are really going for you," Wuytens told De Telegraaf.
"With Gertjan Verbeek and Earnest Stewart, I had a good conversation. I really appreciate that they had enormous patience to wait for me."
The centre-half is likely to form a partnership next season with fellow new signing Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, who has arrived from Heerenveen.
