Feyenoord edge above FC Twente at top of the table

Feyenoord edged above FC Twente at the top of the Eredivisie table after cruising to a 4-0 home win against Roda JC. Although Twente won 2-1 at home to bottom-club RKC Waalwijk, Feyenoord's comfortable victory saw them leapfrog Steve McClaren's men on goal difference having both taken 10 points from the opening four games. Sekou Cisse gave Feyenoord a fourth-minute lead before Jon Dahl Tomasson left Roda JC with an uphill task by grabbing his third goal of the season in the 33rd minute. Jonathan de Guzman's 39th-minute effort killed off the visitors' hopes of an unlikely comeback and the Canadian-born forward grabbed a second goal late on. Bryan Ruiz claimed a 22nd-minute opener for FC Twente and Blaise Nkufo doubled their lead just six minutes later with his third of the campaign. Charlison Benschop pulled one back for RKC Waalwijk midway through the second half but it was not enough, and they are still searching for their first point. AZ Alkmaar climbed from sixth to third place after enjoying a 2-0 victory away to Heerenveen. An own goal by home goalkeeper Martin Lejsal set AZ on their way on the half-hour mark before Mounir El Hamdaoui secured victory with his fourth goal of the season in the 64th minute.

PSV climb to fourth

PSV Eindhoven began the day in eighth but swapped places with fourth-placed NAC Breda after beating them 3-1 at the Philips Stadion. PSV had to do it the hard way, though, with Edwin de Graaf's second goal in two games giving the visitors an eighth-minute lead. And it was not until the 64th minute that Danny Koevermans, a half-time substitute for Otman Bakkal, drew PSV level. Koevermans put PSV in front with his second goal in the 73rd minute and although the hosts had Francisco Rodriguez sent off with 11 minutes left for handball, Ibrahim Afellay sealed it in stoppage time. Ajax could have gone joint third with AZ but missed that opportunity as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Sparta Rotterdam in Sunday's other Eredivisie game.
