France coach names five new faces

France coach Raymond Domenech claims he is looking to the future after naming five new faces in his squad for the forthcoming friendlies with Mali and England. Domenech has selected an initial 39-man squad to face Mali in an A international on Tuesday before welcoming the England senior team to Paris on Wednesday. Recreativo Huelva forward Florent Sinama Pongolle, Lille defender Abil Rami and Stuttgart centre-back Matthieu Delpierre have all received the call from Domenech. Lyon midfielder Mathieu Bodmer and Marseille playmaker Mathieu Valbuena - who scored his side's winner against Liverpool at Anfield in the group stages of this season's UEFA Champions League - have also earned a place as Domenech looks to build experience.

Options

"We have to prepare for the future," said Domenech. "I want to see what they are capable of. "There are positions where some players will stop soon. I wanted to see as many players as possible, try some new options." Juventus striker David Trezeguet - who refused to play with the France A team in the past - was not named in Domenech's squad. However, Domenech says he has spoken with Trezeguet and insists the forward could return to the international scene in the future.
Talked
"We talked together," added Domenech. "I have listened to his arguments. "I can understand it is of no interest for him to play with the French A team. "I know his value too. If I need him with the first-team, I could call him back. The door is not closed."
