Utrecht striker Michael Mols has been banned for five games for punching an opponent.

The former Rangers marksman knocked out De Graafschap defender Milan Berck Beelenkamp during an Eredivisie game in November.

The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) announced on Tuesday that they had slapped a five-game ban on Mols.

The Dutch hit-man only signed for Utrecht in November and wasted no time at all in making his mark by punching Beelenkamp within a month of his arrival.

Mols has made just three appearances for Utrecht but will now have to sit out the next five matches.

However, the KNVB added that the Dutchman can appeal against the ban.
