Eredivisie strugglers Groningen have sacked coach Pieter Huistra after a disappointing second half to the season.
Groningen started the campaign brightly but collapsed after the winter break, losing 12 of their last 17 matches to finish 14th in the standings.
The club on Thursday announced the exit of Huistra, who led Groningen to a fifth placed finish in his first season after joining in 2010.
Previously, the 45-year-old started his coaching career in the Ajax youth department.
