Groningen have set their sights on Marnix Kolder as the replacement for Glen Salmon.

Salmon has informed the Groningen board that he is keen to head for a new challenge and they have taken this as a signal to seek out new talent.

And South African striker Kolder of BV Veendam is the player who has caught their eye.

"He is strong, left-footed and used to playing in a system with two strikers," coach Ron Jans told Groningen's official website.

Jans is keen to bring Kolder to Groningen in January.

"The advantage of a move during the winter break is that he can get used to things here," he continued.

"He will be able to adapt to the higher level of the training sessions, where everything goes quicker and is more sophisticated."
