Groningen have swelled their ranks with the capture of Serbian midfielder Goran Lovre from Belgian giants Anderlecht.
Lovre has been under contract at Anderlecht for the last eight years and was offered a contract extension.
The midfielder opted against accepting the contract, as he had grown frustrated at his failure to secure a regular starting spot.
Groningen stepped in and handed the 23-year-old a three-year deal.
Lovre is leaving the Belgian club on good terms.
"It's a pity I couldn't show my real qualities at Anderlecht in the eight years at the club," he told La Derniere Heure.
"I am now turning the page and want to thank the Anderlecht fans for their support."
