RODA JC are confident Iraklis will pay the transfer fee for defender Regillio Vrede, despite missing the deadline for the first instalment.

The imposing defender has been involved in one of the most drawn out transfer soap operas of the summer, being on the brink of a number of moves to clubs in different countries.

Metalurg Donetsk, Shakhtar Donetsk, AEK Athens and RKC Waalwijk all expressed interest in Vrede before the 29-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Greek outfit.

Iraklis have yet to pay the first part of the ‚é¼475,000 fee, but Roda are putting this down to a delay caused by a Greek public holiday.

"We believe holidays in Greece are responsible for the delay," Roda general manager Frank Rutten told Limburgs Dagblad.

"All other conditions have already been met by Iraklis, so we expect to receive guarantees soon."
