Swedish keeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt has spurned reported interest from Liverpool after agreeing to join Heerenveen on a free transfer.

Young keeper joins Dutch side until 2015

Swedish goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt has spurned reported interest from Liverpool after agreeing to join Heerenveen on a free transfer. The 22-year-old was linked with an Anfield switch in January after his contract at native club Brommapojkarna expired. However, no move to Merseyside materialised and Nordfeldt has now reached a deal with the Eredivisie side which will keep him at the Abe Lenstra Stadion until 2015. The youngster is a long-term target of Heerenveen, who tried to sign him in 2010 but would not stretch to Brommapojkarna's asking price. Nordfeldt told SC Heerenveen TV: "I think it's a fantastic club. When I got here yesterday (Monday) for the first time, I immediately got a good impression.

Opportunities

"The facilities and opportunities for the players are good. It looks good. "The club has faith in me, but I will have to prove that I am the first-choice goalkeeper. "I am strong in the air, have a good response and my footwork is good. But I'm still young and want to improve in everything." Nordfeldt impressed during a five-year stint playing in Sweden, earning a call-up to his country's senior national side and his first cap. European giants Ajax and Juventus were also believed to be monitoring the young keeper.
