Yuri Rose has opted to stay at Heerenveen after failing to secure a move to Portuguese side Maritimo.

The forward seemed set to head for Portugal after agreeing a deal with Maritimo, but a number of minor contractual troubles cast doubt over the move.

Frantic talks this week failed to bear fruit and Rose has now confirmed he will remain at Heerenveen unless an attractive offer arrives in the next six weeks.

"I have been kicked around between hope and disappointment for weeks," Rose, who has two years remaining on is contract, told the Leeuwarder Courant. "I cannot do it to my family to stay longer in insecurity.

"It's certainly no punishment to play for Heerenveen, although I would like to have more playing time."
