Arnold Bruggink's return to first-team action with Heerenveen has been delayed.

The fleet-footed forward picked up a hamstring injury in the Uefa Cup clash with Beveren in December.

Heerenveen were confident that Bruggink would be fit for the resumption of the Eredivisie season next week, but the problem is still causing concern.

Bruggink claims he has no discomfort, but scans have revealed that the tear is yet to heal - hence the reluctance of the club's medical team to give him the green light.

"Although I don't feel anything any more, there appears to still be a crack," a frustrated Bruggink told De Telegraaf.
