Heerenveen have sold Sweden international Stefan Selakovic to IFK Gothenburg.

Selakovic has signed a three-year contract with IFK after joining in a deal believed to be in the region of ‚é¼500,000.

The 28-year-old had become frustrated at Heerenveen this season after joining the club during the 2001/02 campaign.

He was under contract until 2006 but admitted last month that he wanted to explore options of a move.

The forward rejected a return to former club Halmstad, along with Malmo, and was initially averse to going back to Sweden.

But after failing to attract further interest, Selakovic has opted to ink a deal with IFK, in preference to Djurgardens.
