Young midfielder agrees 12-month contract extension

Feyenoord youngster Jordy Clasie has reached an agreement with the club to extend his contract until summer 2015. The 20-year-old midfielder had been locked in talks with the Eredivisie side as they looked to tie him to a long-term deal. The Rotterdammers have now confirmed Clasie, whose current contract is due to expire in 2014, will put pen to paper on an extension at the end of this season. Technical director Martin van Geel told the club's official website: "He's presented himself very well this season. "Last season, (on loan) at Excelsior, Jordy had already shown that he is a very good player. This season he has proved in a very short space of time the value he holds at Feyenoord. "Therefore we would like to continue with Jordy, which means an upgrade of his contract."

Confidence

Clasie, a youth product at Feyenoord, has established himself as a first-team regular this term. The youngster is happy the club has shown trust in him since his return from his loan spell at Excelsior. "I was pleased to return to Feyenoord at the beginning of the season," he said. "Early in the season the club indicated that they would like to keep me for longer. That suggests they have a lot of confidence in me. I'm glad we worked it out."
