New Malaga signing Joris Mathijsen admits he will miss his old side Hamburg but was 'fed up' with the frequent managerial changes at the Bundesliga club.
The 31-year-old moved to ambitious Primera Liga side Malaga in June, signing a two-year deal at La Rosaleda.
Prior to that the Holland international stopper had spent five years with Hamburg since moving from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2006.
Mathijsen admits he enjoyed playing for the club and living in the city, but grew tired of the upheaval caused by the constant managerial changes.
After playing under seven different managers in four years at the Imtech Arena, once Mathijsen had heard of Malaga's offer, he felt it was too good to turn down.
"I would have stayed at Hamburger SV if there had not been an offer like that coming in," said the defender.
"I felt it was flattering. I wanted to start something new when I heard about Malaga's proposal.
"I also left because I was finally fed up by the newest clear-out. I did not enjoy having to have one new manager every season.
"It is a pity I was unable to say goodbye to the supporters of Hamburger SV after all those years. I really loved living in Hamburg."
