Ajax marksman suspended by club over weekend incident

Ajax striker Luis Suarez has received a two-match ban from his club after appearing to bite PSV's Otman Bakkal in their goalless draw at the weekend. The ban will come into force following Tuesday's UEFA Champions League match with Real Madrid. A statement on Ajax's website read that Suarez was banned 'because of what happened during Ajax-PSV on Saturday night'. The Uruguay international has also been fined an undisclosed sum that will be donated to a good cause, the statement aded. After the incident Bakkal pulled down his shirt to show a red mark on his collarbone and now Ajax have moved swiftly to take action against the striker. Uruguay's Suarez was one of the stars of this year's World Cup, scoring three goals, but he also earned criticism for his intentional handball on the line that helped eliminate Ghana in the quarter-finals.
