Vitesse Arnhem are hopeful of wrapping up a deal for Danko Lazovic in the next few days.
The Serbian forward has been deemed surplus to requirements at Feyenoord and this has led to renewed interest from Vitesse.
The Gelredome outfit failed with a bid to land Lazovic 12 months ago, but they are confident of succeeding this summer.
"I think that we will agree a deal this week," Vitesse director of football Jan Streuer told vi.nl.
"If he plays regularly, he will become the top player he once was."
Lazovic's deal at Feyenoord runs until 2008 and they are happy to cash in on a player who was once highly rated at De Kuip.
Vitesse have allowed keeper Armand van den Top to join De Graafschap, but youngsters Jaime Bruinier and Rick van Wolfswinkel have signed contracts.
