The 20-year-old had been expected to leave ADO at the end of the season, after making it clear he would not sign a new contract, and Feyenoord have stepped in to agree a deal.
The Kuip club reached agreement with the midfielder on Tuesday and he has signed a three-year deal.
Feyenoord, who will be managed by Ruud Gullit next season, are looking to make sweeping changes having already signed Edwin de Graaf, who will be loaned back to RBC Roosendaal, and keeper Gabor Babos.
The club have revealed they plan to bring in a defender in the next few days.
A blow for Feyenoord is that Ferne Snoyl has suffered a fractured collarbone.
The defender suffered the injury during the weekend draw with ADO, ironically following a challenge from Castelen, and will be sidelined for at least a month.
