FEYENOORD TO OFFER NEW DEAL FOR IGOR

FEYENOORD could be set to hand a new contract to Russian midfielder Igor Korneev.

The 33-year-old midfielder is enjoying a resurgence in fortune this season and Bert van Maarwijk is set to offer him an extended stay.

The former CSKA Moscow player moved to Holland with Heerenveen in 1995 after spells with Espanyol and Barcelona, and then joined Feyenoord in 1997 on a Bosman transfer.

Korneev then struggled to make an impact and has just broken through on a regular basis this season.

Feyenoord are looking to tie down a number of their squad and Irish international David Connolly could be offered a new deal. The former Watford ace has just been recalled to De Kuip after spending time at Excelsior on loan, but he has impressed the management and could be offered a new contract.
