Sky Sports sources understand former Chelsea manager Avram Grant is also on the short list to take charge of Dutch club FC Twente.

Co Adriaanse's dismissal on Tuesday has left Twente searching for a new coach and it is understood three names are in the frame for the position.

Steve McClaren's Dutch agent confirmed earlier on Wednesday that the ex-England coach is holding talks regarding a possible return to Twente.

McClaren spent two seasons with Twente and led the club to a first Eredivisie title in 2010 before leaving that same year for German outfit Wolfsburg.

He left Championship side Nottingham Forest in October, but has competition for the Twente vacancy from another former Premier League manager.

Grant left his post as West Ham United boss at the end of last season after the club were relegated to the Championship.

The Israeli has also managed Chelsea and Portsmouth, and is under consideration for a return to coaching with Twente.
