Ramon Zomer has committed his future to Twente by signing a new deal.

The 22-year-old defender has produced a number of taking displays this term and has attracted admiring glances from Heerenveen.

Twente were aware of the interest and moved to thrash out a new deal, with Zomer's previous contract having just over a year left to run.

Zomer concurred on the terms on offer on Thursday and has signed a deal which ties him to Twente until the summer of 2008.

Zomer has revealed that he agonised for some time before putting his name to the contract.

"I thought about things for a month and a half before I extended," Zomer told the club's website.

"Heerenveen had serious interest, but I have decided to stay here. The last weeks have gone well and that gives me confidence."

Heerenveen, meanwhile, have handed a new deal to Brian Vandenbussche, with the keeper now tied to the club until 2008.
