Twente have handed a trial to Greek defender Konstantinos Loumpoutis.

The 26-year-old arrived in the Netherlands on Thursday and has been informed he can train with the club for the next week in the hope of winning a deal.

Loumpoutis has been plying his trade in Italy with Perugia for the last four seasons, but they have opted against handing him a new deal and he is now available on a free transfer.

Twente had a fine campaign last term, with Rini Coolen's men finishing sixth in the Eredivisie, and the club are determined to press on and challenge for honours.

Left back Loumpoutis has a solid pedigree, having also played for Siena and Aris Saloniki, and he could add a touch of quality to the Twente back line.
