The 25-year-old was captured on video approaching then grabbing Joris Mathijsen by the shirt with players and staff forced to intervene to pull the pair apart.
Lens, who was already suspended for Wednesday night's KNVB Beker Cup clash with PEC Zwolle after he picked up his fifth booking of the campaign against Feyenoord, will now miss the league matches against VVV, Heerenveen and Sparta.
PSV handed out the "maximum fine" to Lens and will not appeal the three-match ban, with technical manager Marcel Brands hugely disappointed with Lens' actions.
"Despite the fact that there was no aggressive attitude on the part of Jeremain, it was absolutely unwise to be there waiting for him," Brands said after the match on the club's official website.
"He grabbed his shirt and held it, that is unacceptable. Then there was a lot of commotion in a very small space, with players and coaches from PSV and Feyenoord trying to prevent an escalation.
"The player has discredited PSV and therefore Jeremain has apologised. He gets the maximum fine imposed as punishment."
The timing is far from ideal for Dick Advocaat's side who although are currently top of the Eredivisie table, sixth-placed Twente are just six points behind with 10 games left.
