Vitesse boss believes stopper is suited to English football

PSV Eindhoven's new signing Timothy Derijck is destined for a future in English football, according to his former coach John van den Brom. The Belgian centre-back arrived at the Philips Stadion from Eredivisie rivals ADO Den Haag this summer and has already made three appearances for his new club. Van den Brom, who coached Derijck at ADO and is now at Vitesse, has high expectations for the 24-year-old. And the manager believes his style of play would be well matched to the English leagues.

Advocate

"Timothy is a true advocate for English football," he told Voetbal International. "(He's) hard in matches, physically strong, never injured and with a good kick in his right leg." He added: "Derijck was a great guy to work with. He really does not realise how good he is. "At this young age he already has experience. I often use him as a point of comparison for the other guys, especially his professionalism in training."
