Eredivisie Round-Up

AZ Alkmaar usurped PSV Eindhoven at the top of De Eredivisie with Ajax in second.

AZ Alkmaar usurped PSV Eindhoven at the top of De Eredivisie, whilst Ajax moved into second as five games took place on Sunday.

Louis van Gaal's AZ outfit triumphed over Roda JC with two goals in the space of 60 seconds in the second half at Parkstad Limburg Stadion.

Former Rangers forward Shota Arveladze (pictured) continued his productive run of form with the opening goal on 69 minutes, and substitute Moussa Dembele quickly followed up with the second.

Capital club Ajax elevated themselves to second place, a point behind AZ and equal with PSV, thanks to a 2-0 win at home to NEC Nijmegen.

Kenneth Perez was the match winner for Henk ten Cate's team as his brace (60, 82) secured all three points for the title hopefuls.

Feyenoord started to address their disappointing early season form by beating Excelsior 1-0 courtesy of Jonathan de Guzman's eighth minute strike.

Utrecht also won 1-0 as Gregoor van Dijk's 90th minute penalty gave them a late, late win at home to high-flying Heerenveen.

In De Eredivisie's other game on Sunday, FC Groningen slipped down to fourth after being held to a 1-1 draw by RKC Waalwijk.

Former Manchester United striker Erik Nevland (10) gave the home side the lead as they looked to go top of the table, but Tim Janssen pegged them back on 58 minutes.
