NEGOTIATIONS between Feyenoord and FC Utrecht have broken down over the possible transfer of Pascal Bosschaart.

The Rotterdam side were not prepared to pay the ‚é¼4 million asking price for the Utrecht midfielder, and proposed a player trade instead.

Utrecht refused the offer of taking Christian Gyan, Glenn Loovens, Mariano Bombarda or Johan Elmander in exchange for Bosschaart, and technical president Han Berger confirmed that the talks were over.

He said: "Feyenoord have offered some players. We're not interested in them.

"The position of (Stijn) Vreven has already been filled with (Michael) Lamey. We're still looking for a good striker but it is not possible to trade Bosschaart for one of the players Feyenoord offered."

Feyenoord technical president Rob Baan admitted that they were after the player.

"We were certainly interested," he said. "But FC Utrecht have kept Bosschaart to his contract and the transfer sum that comes with that is so high that it has made us look for alternatives."
