Keeper anger at PSV snub

PATRICK LODEWIJKS has expressed deep disappointment at being told his contract will not be renewed by PSV Eindhoven.

The 34-year-old has performed well when called upon to deputise for Ronald Waterreus (pictured) this season, conceding just six goals in eight appearances, and was shocked when informed he would not be offered an extension to his contract, which runs out in the summer.

"At the club they're really positive about my actions during the injuries of Waterreus," the keeper told Eindhovens Dagblad. "But now they tell me that they don't want to continue with me.

"A decision made on policy, that's what they told me. That was very disappointing.

"I will need a couple of days to get over this."

PSV coach Erik Gerets expects Waterreus to make a full recovery from his elbow problems and with Jelle ten Rouwellar joining the club from Emmen for next term, they have decided to dispense with Lodewijks.
