KEZMAN EXPLAINS PSV SLUMP

PSV EINDHOVEN face a goalkeeping crisis ahead of the Champions League clash with Lazio, but Mateja Kezman is convinced the Eredivisie champions will find their best form soon.

Number one Ronald Waterreus is out of action after undergoing an operation for an elbow problem, and Ivica Kralj, Gino Coutinho and Nick Vermieren have joined him on the sidelines.

The club are hoping Uefa will allow special dispensation so Guido Budziak, who is not eligible to play in the competition, can appear on the bench.

Yugoslavian star Kezman is hoping to find his best form in time for the encounter with Lazio, after a poor start to the campaign, both personally and for the team, which finds itself in 11th place in the table.

Kezman was expected to take over Ruud van Nistelrooy's mantle this term, but has failed to score for four consecutive matches.

"I feel very tired," he confessed.

"I've played every third day for a month and a half.

"But there have been other periods like this. Once, I remember I didn't score for seven games and, after that, managed 30 goals in 15 days in various competitions.

"I think it is just a matter of time before you will read my name on the scorers' list," he told Glas Javnosti.

"After winning two titles, perhaps we miss a bit of motivation now at the start of the season.

"The biggest problem is the long-term injury to our captain Mark van Bommel. He is a leader, a fighter, our best player, half of our team.

"Danish international Dennis Rommedahl is out of form. He is not making assists and last season I scored at least 10 goals from his passes.

"But I believe, in a short time, you will see the same old dominating PSV from previous seasons."

Meanwhile, MVV are looking to co-operate with the Eindhoven side in order to ease their debts.

MVV are around 3 million guilders (£750,000) in the red, and need a licence for next season.

PSV and MVV are expected to announce their plans in the next few days, with a satellite club operation in the pipeline involving players, coaches, management and money.
