Dane granted permission to talk to Ligue 1 new-boys Evian

Liverpool have confirmed they have agreed a deal with Evian for the transfer of Christian Poulsen. The Denmark international has proved a major disappointment at Anfield since arriving last August and has long been expected to leave. As revealed earlier on Tuesday by skysports.com, Poulsen has now been given permission to hold discussions with Ligue 1 new-boys Evian ahead of the completion of his move. A statement on the Premier League club's official website on Tuesday read: "Liverpool FC have tonight confirmed that they have reached agreement with Evian Thonon Gaillard for the transfer of Christian Poulsen.

"The French side have now been given permission to talk to the Denmark international." Poulsen was a signing of former Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson, but successor Kenny Dalglish this summer took steps to improve his midfield. Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson were signed in Poulsen's preferred position of central midfield and the 31-year-old has not played for Liverpool this season. The former Juventus man made his most recent appearance for the Reds in the 1-0 defeat to Braga in the Europa League last season. Evian have collected five points from their opening four games, and have already this summer signed the likes of Cedric Mongongou and Sidney Govou.
