Mauro Rosales is all set to leave Ajax in order to sign for River Plate back in his homeland.
The Argentina giants requested permission from their Football Association to complete the deal outside of the transfer window which closed last month.
The 26-year-old winger was signed by Ajax after the Olympic Games in Athens in the summer of 2004 from Newell's Old Boys.
Rosales has, however, failed to ever really impress in 63 league appearances for the Dutch titans and is now bracing himself for a return to South America.
Meanwhile, Ajax have been hit with the news that Leonardo has suffered cruciate ligament damage to his right knee.
The Brazilian lasted just 15 minutes at the weekend after coming off the bench and it is has now been confirmed that he will be sidelined for between six and ninth months.
Leonardo will be well aware of the difficulties he now faces in attempting to come back, having suffered the same injury three-and-and-a-half years ago when playing for Feyenoord.
